After stumbling upon the "Facebook Observer" site the other day, I was pleased to learn (from the About page) that the author was none other than Garrett Smith, who I have known in other contexts from his blog, "Smith on VoIP". He seems to have launched the site in early August, but I just noticed it recently. So far he seems to have some good articles up there and indicates that he has the goal of "becoming the destination for marketers and businesses in general to learn about how they can use Facebook for their own gain."
